Chenille Firetail is sort of a novelty plant. The fuzzy red “tails” are irresistible. Every child and most every adult has to stroke them. The leaves are rounded and about the size of a nickel. The plant is trouble free in terms of pests and disease but rather finicky in its culture. It seems to do best if grown quite dry, with high light and temperatures. High fertilizer rates also seem to promote longer tails. Also, plants grown in high light conditions will see longer tails than those grown in low light.
